In the heart of the open sea, on an isolated island, resides young Millie Stope alongside her politically ostracized grandfather. Their solitude, however, is shattered by the menacing presence of Nicholas, a runaway convict who casts a shadow of terror over their quiet existence. Nicholas' sinister interest in Millie adds an unnerving dynamic to their island life. Across the vastness of the ocean, John Woolfolk, a man haunted by the tragic loss of his wife, seeks solace in the endless voyage aboard his yacht.
