Plot

In the raucous whirlwind of the 1960s, rebellious rock superstar Max Frost, born Max Jacob Flatow Jr., emerges from his affluent yet stifling upbringing as a force to be reckoned with. A precocious master of home-made explosives, Max severs ties with his domineering mother, Daphne Flatow, to carve out his own path. His journey sees him transform from a social misfit into the world's most adored entertainer, commanding an entourage of vibrant young visionaries. Among his eclectic circle is his acid-dropping girlfriend, former child star Sally LeRoy, and child prodigy Billy Cage, a fifteen-year-old Yale law graduate doubling as his band's guitarist and business advisor. Together, they navigate the world with a radical, youthful perspective, challenging the status quo and advocating for a world where age is not the sole determinant of wisdom or power. When Max crosses paths with ambitious Congressman Johnny Fergus, he senses an opportunity. Fergus is vying for a California senate seat on a Democratic ticket, and his campaign promises include lowering the voting age to eighteen. Sensing the potential to influence Fergus's youth-oriented policies further, Max offers his influential endorsement. However, Max's ambition doesn't stop there. Believing that the voting age should drop to fourteen, he decides to infiltrate the political system himself, aiming to redistribute power from the "old"— anyone over thirty-four, according to Max and his entourage— to the young. His audacious move culminates in his running for the presidency. Upon clinching a landslide victory, President Frost begins to reshape society in his own image. His first presidential edict forces the elderly into "retirement homes," where they are compelled to ingest LSD, a drastic manifestation of the era's catchphrase, "Never trust anyone over 30." As Max and his team push forward with their vision, the tense tango between the establishment and these youthful revolutionaries escalates. The unfolding drama poses an exhilarating question: how far will each side go to either enact or prevent this radical redefinition of society?
