Why Worry? (1923)

In the whimsical world of "Why Worry?" (1923), we meet Harold Van Pelham - a wealthy hypochondriac yearning for tranquility to nurse his imagined ailments. Driven by his affliction, he sets sail for the tropical paradise of Paradiso, off the west coast of South America, hoping to find the peace and quiet he craves. Accompanying him on this seemingly serene journey are his loyal nurse, harboring a secret love for him, and his devoted valet, Mr. Pipps. However, unbeknownst to Harold and his companions, Paradiso is in the throes of a tumultuous revolution, orchestrated by the American, James H. Blake. This upheaval has roused the ire of the big banks, who view it as a threat to their economic endeavors. Consequently, they dispatch a representative to quell the unrest, setting a series of mistaken identities in motion. Upon their arrival, the blissfully oblivious Harold, his nurse, and Mr. Pipps find themselves entangled in the island's chaos. Blake, presuming them to be the bank's representatives, orchestrates their separation, leaving Harold to navigate the pandemonium alone. In his quest for rest and reprieve, Harold inadvertently allies with Colosso, a towering figure who's an enemy of the revolution, further entangling himself in the island's political turmoil. As Harold's quest for quietude spirals into a thrilling adventure, he finds himself imprisoned, only to engineer an audacious escape with the gentle giant, Colosso. Together, they unexpectedly become the catalysts that could potentially quell Paradiso's unrest. Through the chaos and comedy, Harold learns that peace isn't always where you expect to find it, and health might be more than just a state of body, but a state of mind.
