In the pristine suburban Eden of Heaven, lush trees and picturesque houses line every street. In this idyllic realm, freedom is as limitless as the azure sky—under one ironclad stipulation: steer clear of "The Evil One" lurking behind the towering wall encircling the town, a presence ceaselessly monitored by gas-masked guards. Heaven's self-appointed shepherd, Caine, peppers the town with his own image, demanding unflinching trust and affection from his flock. When a curious child develops a fixation on the growing swarms of enigmatic black birds populating the town, his life takes an unexpected turn. A chase after one such bird leads him to discover a vocalizing kitten with a wounded leg. The kitten implores the young boy, Marius, and his friend Eden to venture through a crevice in the foreboding wall to aid her. Overcoming their apprehension, the children decide to take the plunge into the unknown. Their act of kindness is rewarded with the introduction to a vibrant fruit proliferating wild and free on the other side of the wall. After they partake in this mysterious bounty, the kitten brings them face-to-face with the so-called Evil One. This encounter unveils the possibility of forbidden knowledge—truths that Caine has been desperately keeping hidden from his people.
