In the charmingly nostalgic setting of her family's lakeside backyard in Seattle, a 30-year-old accomplished biochemist, Carrie Watson, is caught in a whirlwind of emotional turbulence and sugary delights. As she returns home for her younger sister Lydia's wedding, she undertakes dual roles - as a bridesmaid and an unexpected wedding cake artisan, her scientific acumen finding a curious, passionate outlet in the delicate art of cake-making.
