Varudu (2010)

Poised on the brink of an impending relocation to the U.S., our protagonist, Sandeep, defies convention by rejecting the advances of the sultry Nisha and electing instead for a traditional Hindu marriage. He entrusts the responsibility of choosing his bride to his parents, the esteemed Advocate Vasanthi and Rajgopal. The chosen bride-to-be, a young woman of similar traditional values, agrees to marry Sandeep sight unseen. The families orchestrate a magnificent 16-day extravaganza, culminating in a 5-day wedding ceremony. On the day of the wedding, a sea of eager relatives congregates to witness this extraordinary union. It's here that Sandeep and his bride, Dipti, lay eyes on each other for the first time and find mutual approval. However, the joyous atmosphere is abruptly shattered when the wedding Pandal collapses. Amidst the chaos, Sandeep emerges only to find Dipti missing and two mysterious men spiriting her away. Despite his desperate attempts, Sandeep fails to rescue Dipti and is forced to return home empty-handed. The family enlists the aid of the police, but they soon discover that Dipti's captors, Diwakar and Prabhakar, are formidable adversaries, wielding enough power and influence to be beyond the reach of law. The grim possibility of Dipti being no longer alive hangs heavy in the air. As Sandeep prepares to leave for the U.S., his relatives, acutely aware of the incomplete wedding rituals, entreat him to marry another girl. With Dipti's fate hanging in the balance, Sandeep must now make a heart-wrenching decision. Will he move on, or will he fight the odds to find his abducted bride?
