Plot

In the heart of domestic chaos and comedic mayhem, Unaccustomed as We Are (1929) introduces us to Oliver, a well-meaning husband who invites his loyal but bumbling friend, Stanley, over for a quiet home-cooked dinner. This unexpected guest agitates Mrs. Hardy, who promptly storms out, leaving the hapless duo to their own devices. A glimmer of hope emerges from across the hall as the ravishing Mrs. Kennedy, their neighbor, volunteers to lend a helping hand. However, their shared lack of aptitude turns the evening into a whirlwind of clumsy disasters, culminating in Mrs. Kennedy's dress catching fire! Just when the situation appears its most dire, Mr. Kennedy, the intimidating policeman husband, comes to investigate the commotion. In a frantic attempt to avoid scandal, Oliver manages to hide the now scantily-clad Mrs. Kennedy in a trunk. Mr. Kennedy's prideful boasting about his control over his wife backfires spectacularly when she bursts from the trunk, gifting him a blackened eye. Meanwhile, the bewildered Mrs. Hardy returns, curious about the strange noises from next door. Unaccustomed as We Are spins a tale of humorous misfortunes, where innocent intentions collide with a series of unfortunate events, creating a riotous spectacle that will keep you laughing till the final act.
