Ulysse & Mona (2018)

In the heart of an ancient manor, nestled deep within a cloistered forest, resides Ulysse, a once-renowned contemporary artist. Having abandoned his family and artistic career four years prior, the 55-year-old now leads a solitary existence with only his faithful dog, Joseph, for company. His days are consumed by melancholy routine, consisting of solitary tennis matches against a relentless pitching machine and the haunting melodies of horror movie soundtracks. Desperate for excitement yet too stubborn to admit his ennui, Ulysse languishes in his self-imposed isolation. In stark contrast, Mona, a twenty-year-old art student, is caught in the drudgery of uninspiring nude drawing sessions and dry lectures delivered by ageing professors. Her life as an artist is as monotonous as it is uneventful. Spurred by a sudden impulse, Mona ventures to seek out Ulysse, hoping to shake the mundanity of her existence. Their initial encounter is fraught with awkwardness and mishap, but destiny has a strange way of intertwining lives. Embarking on an unexpected journey, Ulysse and Mona find themselves drawn into an adventure that promises to shatter their stagnant lives and reshape their futures. In the interplay of isolation and inspiration, they discover that art, like life, is a canvas waiting to be transformed by the right stroke of the brush.
