Free Willy (1993)

Willy has lived in an aquarium since he was captured as a child, but he finds an unlikely friend in the form of Jesse. The troubled kid first encounters Willy when he's vandalizing the marina. He's caught but told that the aquarium won't press charges if he helps out. Over the course of his time doing community service, he bonds with the lonely orca. Caring for Willy helps Jesse find a sense of structure in his life, but he'll need to return the favor sooner rather than later. The aquarium's owner plans on putting Willy to sleep, but freeing him means somehow getting him safely from a small tank all the way into the ocean.
