In the dusty town of Tascosa, the cynical and corrupt Marshal Guthrie McCabe leads a life of comfort, reaping benefits from various crooked deals. Belle Aragon, his lover and proprietor of a bustling saloon and brothel, hopes to tether his wandering heart with marriage. However, duty calls when McCabe is summoned by US Army Major Frazer. Under pressure from the tormented relatives of white prisoners held captive by the Comanche tribe, Major Frazer commissions McCabe for a daring and delicate mission.
