McLintock! (1963)

In the sprawling Western territories, amidst the unforgiving dust and scorching sun, reigns cattle baron George Washington McLintock, familiarly known as "GW" to friends and foes alike. His towering persona, built on the back of mining, timber, and cattle, has painted him as the richest man in the territory, a self-made king in his own right, respected and revered by all. The day has arrived when his daughter, Becky, returns from two years of schooling, but another unexpected return shakes his world - Katherine, his determined and headstrong wife from whom he's been estranged for years, reenters his life, her intentions as unknown as the day she left. Katherine's sudden reappearance brings with it a storm of unresolved issues. She is resolute on taking their daughter back to the State Capitol with her, but GW is not ready to let go. His life is further complicated by the influx of farmers, beneficiaries of free land grants, and the shadow of a negative peace looming over the local Comanche Indians, threatened with relocation by a crooked land agent and the territorial governor, Cuthbert H. Humphrey. As he navigates this tumultuous sea of personal challenges and societal upheavals, GW is pressed hard to maintain the peace, protect his empire and do what is best for everyone. His town, a small dot near Mesa Verde, is steeled for more excitement than it bargained for, especially with the Fourth of July celebration on the horizon. Amidst this whirlwind, can GW reconcile with Katherine and maintain his reign? The echoes of the past and the uncertainties of the future collide in this tale of power, family, and honor in the untamed West.
