In the turbulent year of 1848, the landscape of Mexico is set to be forever transformed by a powerful New York bank's zealous pursuit of a continental railroad. The bank's insatiable hunger for progress leads to the ruthless acquisition of minuscule banks dotting the sun-drenched terrains of Santa Rita and Durango. In its wake, the bank leaves a trail of evicted farmers, their lives uprooted from the land they once called home.
