Plot

In the twilight of World War I, American soldiers Sgt. Peter McGaffney and W. Dangerfield Phelps III find themselves held captive in a German POW camp in the frosty Northern front. The unlikely pair, consisting of a brusque sergeant and a privileged "pretty boy" known for his caricatures, share a relationship steeped in animosity. Despite their differences, they form a unique bond in the harsh confines of the camp, fuelled by their audacious plans for escape. On a day blanketed by snow, their daring escape plan unfolds, aided by the clever appropriation of white Arabian robes that render them invisible against the wintry landscape. Their journey spirals into an eccentric adventure as they're mistaken for Arab prisoners and whisked away on a German prisoner train to Turkey. Their escape navigates them to the belly of a Russian freighter, headed for the sun-drenched sands of Arabia. Aboard the ship, their paths cross with the enchanting Arabian princess Mirza, who they save from the frigid clutches of the sea. Both men are instantly captivated by her, their hearts entwined in a rivalry for her affections. This rivalry takes a heartbreakingly disappointing turn when they learn that Mirza is betrothed to the formidable Shevket Ben Ali, as per her father's wishes. Penniless and desperate, the pair navigate a labyrinth of challenges, from bribing the smitten ship's captain to dodging the wrath of the ship's crew. Forced to abandon ship, they swim to shore with an IOU from the grateful princess and a promise of repayment by the Emir. Driven by hunger and a sense of justice, they decide to approach the Emir to claim their reimbursement, unaware that their audacious interaction with the princess has sparked a deadly manhunt. As they attempt to secure safety at the American consulate, they find themselves ensnared in a dangerous mission to liberate Mirza from her impending marriage. This quest proves to be a risk far more perilous than the trenches of the Western front, catapulting them into a whirlwind of adventures that test their courage, wit, and their unlikely friendship.
