As the city of Madrid exhales the last breaths of two convicts, the cunning La Spada and his sidekick José, a grand scheme begins to unfold, one that promises the thrill of an audacious art swindle. Their ambitious plan is nothing short of audacious: unveiling and selling a third, mysterious painting from Goya's renowned Maya series, the elusive 'Maya in Camisón' (Maya in a Nightgown). The duo recruits the acclaimed Scorcelletti, a master forger residing in Rome known for his uncanny ability to replicate any artwork. Armed with this talent, they collaborate with the enchanting Eva, using her charm to convince Francisco Montiel, a well-respected art critic, of the existence of this third Maya painting, artfully guiding him to 'discover' the artwork himself. As their scheme teeters on the brink of fruition, with an eager American millionaire ready to purchase the faux masterpiece, an unexpected curveball is thrown. Scorcelli, returning from Rome, brings with him a surplus of Maya imitations, threatening to shatter their carefully constructed ruse. As the plot thickens, the swindlers find themselves tangled in a web of their own making, with the potential for riches or ruin hanging in the balance.
