Plot

Under the star-swept skies of Los Angeles, a seemingly ordinary couple, Alan and Jane Palmer, find their lives veering off course when a satchel of money lands in the backseat of their convertible during a late-night drive to a party. Upon discovering the staggering amount of cash, a rift forms. Alan, a beacon of moral fortitude, is determined to surrender the windfall to the police. Jane, however, is enticed by the seductive whisper of an opulent life, persuading him to stash the money away in a Union Station locker until they find a compromise. As days pass, Jane's thirst for luxury begins to bubble over, leading her to indulge in a spending spree on furs and lavish gifts, all financed by the mysterious fortune. However, their newfound wealth doesn't go unnoticed. They soon cross paths with the gritty Danny Fuller, a man lurking in the shadows of their affluent life, who claims ownership of the cash. When Alan discovers Jane's reckless spending, tension erupts. Yet, Jane conceals Danny's existence from him. In an attempt to mend their fractured relationship, they embark on a serene boat ride on a local lake. However, the tranquility is shattered when Jane accidentally takes Alan's life with his own pistol amidst a struggle. With Danny as the only witness, hidden in the darkness, Jane manipulates him into helping her dispose of Alan's body. As Jane spins a web of lies, reporting her husband missing to the police, her unsuspecting sister-in-law, Kathy, stumbles upon a receipt from the locker, initiating her own investigation. Kathy's curiosity leads her to a stranger, Don Blake, who introduces himself as Alan's friend. Meanwhile, a frantic Jane is desperately seeking the same receipt, knowing it's the key to the fortune she's willing to risk everything for. Amidst the swirling mystery, viewers are left to wonder: Will Jane's greed lead her down a path of no return, or will justice find its way through the shadows of deceit?
