Plot

As the fall of 1971 dawns, a ragtag band of recruits descends upon Ft. Polk, Louisiana, their hearts pulsing with the uncertain rhythms of impending war. Their final test awaits in the treacherous terrain of Tigerland, a swamp that eerily mirrors the hostile landscapes of Vietnam. Among them is Jim Paxton, an aspiring writer who's enlisted in search of the raw experiences that will fuel his future novels. In this maelstrom of tension and fear, Paxton finds an unlikely ally in Roland Bozz, a rebellious Texan with a knack for both trouble and an uncanny ability to help outcasts slide through the military's grasp. Despite his unruly behavior, even the sternest sergeants cannot deny Bozz's natural leadership. However, not all are swayed by Bozz's charms. A lurking sociopath within the platoon bristles at Bozz's presence, his hatred simmering just beneath the surface. As the recruits prepare to plunge into the perilous week within Tigerland, Paxton's strength wanes, Bozz contemplates going AWOL, and live ammunition finds its way into the wrong hands. The question remains: Is the looming shadow of the Louisiana swamp more menacing than the deadly DMZ?
