Plot

Set against the nostalgic backdrop of 1951 Cleveland, Those Lips, Those Eyes invites us into the life of Artie Shoemaker, a pre-med student who yearns not for the staid confines of a medical career, but the enchanting allure of the theater. Defying his working-class parents' wishes, Artie plunges headfirst into the theatrical world, landing a novice position as a props man at the Kempton Hills Park Theater, a vibrant open-air venue on the summer stock circuit. At the helm of Kempton Hills is Harry Crystal, the resident lead actor, whose charisma and ambition fuel his dream of returning to Broadway's dazzling lights. Despite the reality that this dream teeters more on the precipice of delusion than possibility, Harry becomes a mentor to Artie. He navigates him through the labyrinth of prop management and, more importantly, the complex social dynamics of theater life. A whirlwind of romance sweeps Artie off his feet as he falls for Ramona, the lead dancer. Their passionate summer affair interweaves with Artie's journey of self-discovery and ambition. The unfolding narrative of Those Lips, Those Eyes is a testament to Artie's experiences, exploring his desire for a theatrical career and evaluating Ramona's place in his envisioned future. The movie is a captivating exploration of dreams, realities, love, and the entrancing magic of theater.
