The Iron Giant (1999)

In 1950s America, a giant robot from space crash lands outside of a sleepy town. A little boy quickly discovers and befriends the robot by helping it hide out in his family's barn. The two bond over comic books and the robot's attempts to understand its new surroundings, but a paranoid government agent is trailing the robot, intent on protecting the country from this new threat. With the robot's limited knowledge of humanity, its easily provoked to violence, leaving the entire town in danger.
