Plot

In the heart of Korea, Sang-hyun, a dedicated priest known as Hyo-Sung, selflessly steps into the harrowing world of virus research, volunteering to work on the enigmatic Emmanuel Virus, the 'Curse of Bazira'. This lethal disease targets only Caucasian and Asian populations, leaving an eerie trail of devastation in its wake. Despite his noble intentions, Hyo-Sung falls victim to the virus, succumbing to the deadly grip of the curse. His death, however, is but a brief interlude in his story. In a twist of fate, he is resurrected through an accidental blood transfusion. Among the fifty volunteers who dared to face the virus, he alone survives, emerging as a saintly figure to his worshipers. Yet, the holy man's new lease on life carries a dark secret - the blood that saved him belonged to a creature of the night, a vampire. As he grapples with his newfound thirst for blood and carnal desires, Hyo-Sung finds himself drawn into a dangerous dance of survival, striving to satiate his vampire urges without shedding innocent blood. His life takes another dramatic turn when he crosses paths with Tae-ju, a woman he had met in his youth in Pusan. Now trapped in an abusive marriage with her husband Kang-woo and tormented by her stepmother Lady Ra, Tae-ju becomes a beacon of desire for the tormented priest. Their illicit relationship spirals into a sinister plot to eliminate Kang-woo. Consumed by his dark desires, Hyo-Sung transforms Tae-ju into a fellow vampire, unleashing her own bloodlust. Now, caught in a storm of their own making, Hyo-Sung must grapple with the consequences of his decisions. The bloodstained path they've embarked on forces him to make an ultimate decision, pushing him to question his newfound existence and the very essence of his humanity. "Thirst" is a tale that blurs the line between saint and sinner, weaving a captivating narrative of desire, survival, and the paradoxes of existence.
