The Unseen (1980)

In the bustling backdrop of a holiday parade fair, Jennifer, a tenacious freelance reporter, along with her two steadfast companions, Karen and Vicki, find themselves unwittingly stepping into a labyrinth of lurking menace. With the town's motels all booked, they accept an offer too good to resist - affordable accommodation within the sprawling confines of an antiquated farmhouse, courtesy of the congenial yet enigmatic museum owner, Ernest Keller. As the trio settles into their temporary abode, the veil of hospitality begins to lift, revealing a shrouded secret that has been festering in the basement for over two decades. Unbeknownst to the women, a hidden entity, referred to as the "thing," has been nurtured and kept hidden by Keller and his introverted sister, Virginia. This ominous presence, once confined to the shadows, breaks free, initiating a chilling game of cat and mouse. Simultaneously, Karen's sister, Jennifer, and Jennifer's love interest, the disgruntled Tony Ross, find themselves entangled in the web of the Keller family's disturbing secret. As the plot thickens, they stumble upon a cryptic revelation involving the Keller's brother/offspring, Junior, who dwells beneath the underbelly of the dilapidated former hotel. One by one, the women are targeted by the "thing," falling prey to a series of harrowing incidents that blur the line between accidents and premeditated acts of violence. As the body count rises, the survivors must unravel the mystery of the unseen enemy that haunts the Keller property, before they too become victims of its insidious intent.
