The Stepmother (1972)

Returning from a Mexican business expedition, architect Frank Delgado is met with an unsettling sight - the car of affluent client Alan Richmond, parked ominously in his driveway. His mind teeming with suspicions of an unsavoury liaison between his wife Margo and Richmond, a fiery rage engulfs Frank. As Richmond emerges unsuspecting from the house, Frank succumbs to his anger, his hands morphing into lethal weapons that strangle the life out of Richmond. Shocked by his own actions, Frank nevertheless manages to maintain his composure. He hauls Richmond's lifeless body to a nearby beach, the moonlight glinting off the spade he'd brought from home. As he hastily buries the body in the cool, damp sand, he inadvertently becomes a voyeur to a Latin couple's escalating argument, morphing into a violent confrontation. Unseen, Frank departs, leaving the beach to its nocturnal secrets. As dawn breaks, the police are alerted to the grim discovery of two bodies on the beach. At the same time, Frank and Margo's morning tranquillity is shattered by the arrival of Frank's business partner, Dick Hill, his wife Sonya and their unconventional companions - the enigmatic pornographic film director Goof and his wife Rita. Despite his simmering anxiety, Frank reluctantly agrees to join them at Richmond's beach house, the very property he and Dick are tasked with transforming into a luxurious haven. Unaware of the chilling secret buried just a stone's throw away, the group embarks on a journey that promises to unravel more than just architectural blueprints.
