K-PAX (2001)

A man who calls himself Prot (rhymes with goat) is committed to a mental institution because he appears to be suffering from multiple delusions. He tells his doctors that he is an alien being from the planet K-PAX located in the constellation Lyra. Psychiatrist Mark Powell determines that Prot has retreated from reality due to a major but undetermined life trauma. However, when Prot is able to display extraordinary knowledge of physics and astronomy while producing other small miracles, Dr. Powell begins to believe he may truly be an extraterrestrial -- and so do his fellow mental ward patients.
