The Slugger's Wife (1985)

Darryl Palmer, the moderately successful right fielder for the Atlanta Braves and occasional home-run hitter, catches sight of Debby Huston, a singer dreaming of pop music stardom, at the Limelight, a local club. Although she initially rebuffs his advances, Darryl's genuine affection eventually wins her over, leading to a whirlwind romance that culminates in marriage. Darryl, believing he has little else to offer but his athletic prowess, vows to be the best batter he can. He starts hitting home runs with astonishing frequency, transforming from a middling player into the Braves' golden boy.
