In the heartland of Serbia, where the winds of change blow against staunch tradition, we find our heroes - the young, successful gay couple Radmilo and Mirko. Their love, a beacon of hope in a society marred by homophobia, endures despite daily persecution. Mirko, a fervent gay rights activist, dreams of organizing the first triumphant PRIDE event in Belgrade. However, this is akin to a 'mission impossible'. The shadows of a failed PRIDE attempt in 2001, which ended in bloodshed, still loom large. A decade later, the scenario hasn't improved - nationalist and neo-Nazi groups threaten another bloodbath, while law enforcement shrugs off its duty to protect.
Their lives take a peculiar turn with the entrance of Lemon, a former criminal turned security business owner, and his fiancée Pearl, a beauty parlour proprietor. Radmilo, a skilled veterinarian, saves the life of Lemon's pit-bull, a drive-by shooting victim, while Mirko, a wedding planner, is hired by the unlikely couple. The ensuing disaster further demoralises Radmilo and Mirko, pushing Mirko to contemplate leaving Serbia forever.
Radmilo, desperate to keep his partner and their love intact, strikes an unconventional deal with Lemon. In exchange for organizing Pearl and Lemon's wedding, Lemon's company would provide security for the Belgrade Pride. Cornered and with his staff refusing to protect the parade, Lemon turns to his former enemies from the ex-Yu wars. Together, Lemon and Radmilo embark on a journey across ex-Yugoslavia, recruiting an unlikely band of warriors - Niko, a Croat war veteran, Halil, a Bosnian Muslim, and Azem, an Albanian from Kosovo.
The Parade, through a blend of tragedy and comedy, unravels the tale of two clashing worlds within the post-war Serbian society - the oppressive, homophobic majority and the liberal, progressive minority. With the greatest challenge awaiting our band of 'samurai', the stakes have never been higher, and the battle for freedom, acceptance, and love continues.
