The Other End (2016)

Seventeen-year-old Diogo harbors an unusual secret; he derives pleasure from phoning his mother's female therapy patients and surreptitiously indulging in their conversations. One such patient is the recently abandoned Angela, a 43-year-old woman caught in the throes of post-marital despair. Mistaking Diogo's calls for her estranged husband's, Angela finds herself drawn into a silent romance with the mysterious voice on the other end of the line. When the truth of Diogo's identity emerges, Angela is initially appalled and inflamed. Yet, she can't deny the allure of this young soul who displayed such profound interest in her - the only one who reached out to her daily during her darkest hours. What started as an unconventional liaison swiftly morphs into a transformative bond for both parties. Diogo inspires Angela to envisage a fresh start beyond the ruins of her failed marriage, while she guides him towards the precipice of independence. However, their unusual relationship isn't without its challenges. The stark age gap, the disapproval of Diogo's mother, and his own turbulent journey towards adulthood threaten to pull them apart. The question remains: will Diogo's path to maturity steer him closer to Angela, or will it propel him into a different direction altogether?
