Plot

In the turbulent backdrop of World War II Malmö, Sweden, "All Things Fair" unearths the complex layers of an illicit relationship between a youthful student and his mature teacher. Stig, a 15-year-old teetering on the brink of manhood, is irresistibly drawn to his 37-year-old teacher, Viola, spellbound by her allure and sophistication. Meanwhile, Viola finds herself captivated by Stig's purity and youthful charm. As the clandestine affair kindles, it intertwines with an unlikely friendship. Stig befriends Viola's husband, Kjell, a chronic inebriate and philanderer, who unwittingly mentors him in the realm of classical music. Despite his growing awareness of Kjell's relation to his secret lover, Stig remains entangled in the forbidden liaison. Viola, feeling justified in her infidelity due to her husband's constant unfaithfulness, stakes everything on this dangerous love. However, the girl next door harbors an unrequited affection for Stig, a love he remains oblivious to even as it blossoms nearby. As the affair escalates and the consequences become increasingly dire, Stig is forced to confront the reality of love beyond the bounds of age and convention. In a poignant twist, Stig discovers the existence of love within his peer circle, a realization that comes with a hefty price. Viola, scorned and betrayed, ensures this awakening is not without its bitter lessons. "All Things Fair" is a tantalizing exploration of illicit love, its repercussions, and the heartbreaking reality of growing up too soon.
