In the aftermath of a catastrophic war ignited by Russia and China's reckless engagement in germ warfare, mankind is brought to the brink of extinction. Set against the hauntingly desolate backdrop of Los Angeles in 1977, the narrative unfolds around the solitary figure of U.S. Army scientist, Dr. Robert Neville. In the face of his impending doom, Neville relies on the remnants of civilization he's being targeted for - electricity, machinery, and science. He battles against the encroaching darkness, striving to keep the deranged survivors at bay, while holding onto the flickering hope of humanity's survival.
