The Last Survivors (2014)

On the precipice of a vast, desolate valley lies the forgotten remnants of The Wallace Farm for Wayward Youth, mere skeletal shells of once thriving structures. Kendal, a determined seventeen-year-old survivor, can faintly remember a time when the Oregon valley flourished. A decade has unfurled since the last raindrop fell, and the once vibrant society has evaporated into dust, leaving only Kendal and a handful of others in its wake. They eke out meagre existences, their dreams of escape a mere mirage in the blistering heat. Their survival hangs in the balance when a ruthless water baron stakes a claim on the remaining underground water reserves, the lifeblood of their survival. Faced with this harsh reality, Kendal is thrust into a critical decision: to flee and vanish, or to stand her ground, fighting valiantly for the precious few people and the fragments of life she clings to in this parched world.
