In the chilling frost of Berlin, February 1943, the NS regime pronounces the Reich's capital "purged of Jews". Yet, against all odds, 7000 resilient souls have slipped into the shadows, with nearly 1700 surviving the unspeakable horrors of war within the city's confines. The Invisibles weaves the extraordinary tales of four such survivors, their lives a testament to human courage and ingenuity. Our first invisible is the youthful Hanni Lévy, a newly turned 17-year-old orphan. Cloaked in dyed blonde hair, she walks undetected amidst her hunters, her days filled with aimless strolls along the bustling Ku'damm. In contrast, Cioma Schönhaus's underground existence pulsates with adventure. He navigates the precarious balance between dining at Berlin's finest establishments and forging passports, an act of defiance that saves countless lives. Eugen Friede, another of our invisibles, throws himself into the heart of resistance, disseminating anti-government leaflets under the cover of darkness. Ruth Arndt, on the other hand, dreams of an American life in the daylight, while at night, she dons the guise of a war widow, serving black-market delicacies in an NS officer's apartment. The Invisibles is not just a portrayal of their harrowing experiences. It is a deeply moving tribute, intertwining dramatic re-enactments with the poignant narratives of the real-life survivors who inspired the film. The result is an emotionally charged feature film that transports you back to a time of darkness, courage, and the will to survive, all while hiding in plain sight.
