Plot

In the pulsating heart of Riga, Latvia, American journalist David, portrayed by Luke Kleintank, embarks on a new career chapter at the European Press Network, courtesy of his old comrade, Grant, played by Bruce Davison. An antiquated but grand house and a sleek BMW car are part of the package, a testament to his friend's generosity. An unexpected encounter unfolds when David's car refuses to start, leading him to the doorstep of his intriguing neighbor, Robert, brought to life by Jonathan Rhys Meyers. A bond quickly forms as Robert's mechanical prowess sees them cruising the Latvian streets in no time. Their kinship deepens during a thrilling night at a local nightclub, where David crosses paths with the enchanting Janine from London, securing her digits in the process. However, their newfound friendship is tested when, on a shadowy backroad, David inadvertently strikes a cyclist – a horrifying revelation unveils the victim as Janine. Robert, a nurse by profession, attempts to save her, but it's too late. He persuades a guilt-stricken and intoxicated David to flee the accident scene, later sinking the incriminating vehicle into a murky lake. Navigating the treacherous waters of guilt and deception, David finds himself reporting on his own crime, attending a police press conference concerning the hit-and-run. As Janine's sister pleads for help in finding witnesses and the offender, David is ensnared in a chilling web of secrets and lies, marking the beginning of an intense thriller that is 'The Good Neighbor'.
