Volcano (1997)

This is a fantasy thriller about a volcano that erupts in the middle of downtown Las Angeles. There are early warning signs as the water temperature in nearby lakes quickly heats up. A lava buildup under the La Brea Tarpits was caused by an earthquake and finally erupts. The local geologists and members of the Office of Emergency Management do their best to evacuate thousands of people while trying to stop the flow of lava down the main streets. How much damage control can they achieve? It is possible for mere humans to stop the onslaught of a mighty volcano?
