Plot
In the cacophonous world of rock-n-roll, Gabriel (Dermot Murphy), an impulsive young drummer, battles to conceal his recent diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder from his increasingly bewildered bandmates. As part of his therapeutic journey, he finds himself embroiled in an unconventional football match where he meets Christopher (Jacob McCarthy), a 17-year-old goalie, who resides in the peculiar universe of Asperger's Syndrome.
In the aftermath of a tumultuous encounter on the field, Gabriel finds himself on the brink of expulsion, and potential institutionalisation, unless he can foster an unlikely friendship with Christopher. However, when the socially awkward and often tactless Christopher embraces Gabriel's reluctant offer of camaraderie with unbridled enthusiasm, the drummer's life takes an unexpected turn.
Now, with a persistent and embarrassingly earnest new sidekick shadowing his every move, Gabriel's secrets teeter on the edge of exposure. The Drummer and the Keeper paints an engaging portrait of offbeat alliances, unvarnished truths, and the rhythmic beats of personal redemption.
