The Disappeared (2008)

In the heart-wrenching drama "The Disappeared," Matthew Ryan's world crumbles when his younger brother Tom mysteriously vanishes. Entrusted by their absent father with Tom's guardianship, Matthew is consumed by guilt and responsibility. His father, Jake, strains to suppress the simmering resentment, but cracks in his facade grow increasingly evident. One day, Matthew, immersed in a treasure trove of newspaper cuttings and video records linked to Tom's disappearance, stumbles upon a spectral voice from the past uttering, "you never came for me!". Chills run down his spine as he recognizes the voice - it's Tom. However, when he presents the eerie tape to Jake, the ghostly voice vanishes, inciting an explosive reaction and reopening a festering wound. Driven by the mysterious voices on the tape, and haunted by the gaunt apparition of Tom, Matthew shares his fears with his confidant Simon, questioning his sanity and the reality of Tom's existence. Amid the turmoil, Matthew befriends Amy, a beautiful yet troubled neighbor. Encouraged by Amy, Matthew reluctantly seeks guidance from a local psychic, Melissa. Haunted by visions of Tom and plagued by nightmares of being entombed alive, Matthew finds himself spiraling into despair. In a shocking twist, Simon's sister, Sophie, is abducted, and Matthew is taken aback when he realizes that a drawing gifted by Melissa's daughter eerily mirrors Sophie. As the supernatural events escalate and Matthew's mental state spirals, only Amy, a budding romantic interest, seems to believe him. Matthew realizes that he must confront the painful mystery of Tom's disappearance if he hopes to save Sophie. There's no turning back as he plunges headlong into a chilling revelation.
