[REC]⁴ Apocalypse (2014)

In the eye of a storm of apocalyptic proportions, television reporter Ángela Vidal awakens within the cold confines of a quarantine cabin aboard an isolated oil tanker. The ship, moored miles off the coast, serves as her cryptic prison, under the watchful eyes of Dr. Ginard and Dr. Ricarte, who are fervently researching a cure to an insidious infection. The menace that once lurked in a Spanish apartment building now surreptitiously shadows Ángela, the unsuspecting epicenter of this lethal plague. Her savior, Guzmán, the man who rescued her from the apartment's clutches, becomes her ally in this floating fortress. Their path intertwines with the ship's Captain Ortega, a seasoned sailor on his final voyage, and Nic, a radioman turned hacker, whose fingers dance on the keyboard to retrieve the crucial footage from Ángela's camera. The ship, a latticework of steel and shadows, plunges into darkness as a blackout hits. The vessel's eerie silence ruptures when an infected laboratory monkey, the unwilling guinea pig of the researchers, is unwittingly released. A dinner turned deadly ensues, the crew unknowingly digests the infected cook's meal, spreading the infection like wildfire. In the electric glow of the retrieved footage, the horrifying truth unfolds. A spectral image of a girl, Tristana Medeiros, is seen transmitting the worm-like virus to an unsuspecting Ángela. Despite her fervent denials of infection, Dr. Ricarte becomes convinced that Ángela, this unsuspecting carrier, holds the key to the antidote. As the ship descends into chaos, a desperate plan emerges to extract the parasite from Ángela. Will this desperate gamble yield salvation or sink them deeper into the abyss? The fate of the crew and perhaps, humanity itself, teeters on the brink in this chilling finale of the [REC]⁴ Apocalypse.
