The Command (1954)

In the throes of a skirmish with Indians, Capt. Forsythe, succumbing to his wounds, bestows command of his cavalry troop upon an unlikely leader - their doctor, Capt. Robert MacClaw. With no battlefield experience and the palpable resentment of his men who believe Sgt. Elliott should take the reins, MacClaw reluctantly accepts the mantle.
