Plot

In the harsh landscape of Dakota Territories, on the eleventh day of August in 1879, an Irishman named Fergus Coffey prepares to propose to his beloved, Maryanne Stewart. His romantic dreams are brutally shattered when Maryanne's family mysteriously vanishes, seemingly the victims of a savage Sioux attack. With determination burning in his heart, Fergus allies himself with the seasoned trackers, John Clay and William Parcher, as well as a bold teenager. They embark on a perilous quest, their path intertwined with that of an army troop under the command of the ruthless and bigoted Captain Henry Victor. The captain, too, is driven by the conviction that the Sioux are behind the wave of abductions plaguing the territory. When tensions escalate, Fergus and his companions part ways with Victor's troops, instead welcoming the company of Callaghan, a brave African-American cook. Their journey takes a terrifying turn when they are ambushed in the woods, only to uncover a chilling truth. The real menace is not the Sioux, as they initially presumed, but a horde of subterranean creatures known as The Burrowers. This band of brave men must now face the unexpected terror that lurks beneath the earth's surface, fighting not only for justice but also to stay alive. As they delve deeper into the shadowed wilderness, they learn that the true enemy often emerges from the most unlikely places. Their battle, it turns out, is far from routine, and survival becomes a game of wits against the relentless beasts of the underground.
