Phantasm (1979)

In the shadowy confines of the Morningside funeral home, an ominous secret unfolds after the tragic death of Tommy, violently stabbed at the hands of a woman in the cemetery. This enigma ensnares Jody and his friend Reggie, both of whom are drawn into the macabre mystery as they attend their friend's funeral. Lingering on the periphery is Jody's teenage brother Mike, recently orphaned and plagued by the fear of losing his only remaining kin, who is contemplating a journey away from their shared past. Undeterred by his grief and driven by curiosity, Mike stealthily trails his brother to the cemetery where his eyes fall upon a chilling sight. The mortician, an imposing figure known only as The Tall Man, effortlessly lifting Tommy's coffin single-handedly. This uncanny display of strength stirs a chilling suspicion in Mike, who decides to delve deeper into the mortuary's eerie secrets. Venturing into the funeral home's labyrinthine depths, Mike stumbles upon a grotesque underworld teeming with peculiar dwarf creatures, their yellow blood a testament to their otherworldly origin. The Tall Man's domain is also guarded by lethal flying spheres, their deadly nature concealed by their metallic sheen. When a harrowing encounter with The Tall Man leaves Mike with a severed finger as evidence, he races to convince Jody of the darkness lurking within the mortuary. As Mike unveils the horrifying truth—that The Tall Man is reanimating shrunken corpses into subservient slaves—an unlikely trio forms. It is up to Mike, Jody, and the unassuming ice cream man Reggie to unravel the mystery and confront the Tall Man, their courage the only barrier between the living and the dead. Their small town's tranquility hangs in the balance as they wage a battle against the ominous undertaker and his macabre minions.
