Stigmata (1999)

The sudden and violent appearance of stigmata in a young woman from Sao Paulo, Brazil is enough to get the attention of the Vatican. Father Andrew Kiernan is sent to investigate the source of the stigmata — and while he initially sees it as a miracle, he slowly begins to see sinister implications in its presence. The pain that Frankie is going through seems excruciating, but his research brings him to the discovery of revelations that could challenge everything the Catholic Church stands for. He'll need to wrestle between his faith in the Church and a truth that redefines everything he's believed.
