Plot

In the heart of the ancient and mystical Carolingian priestly order exists Alex Bernier (Ledger), a devoted member ensnared in the enigma of his craft. When the venerable head of this order draws his last breath under inexplicable circumstances, Alex's path leads him to the enigmatic streets of Rome, to unravel the riddles surrounding the demise. The deceased body, bearing peculiar markings on the chest, whispers tales of a Sin Eater (Furmann), a rogue entity offering salvation and the rare promise of heaven, all while evading the long arm of the Church's authority. Finding himself in an intricate web of divine mysteries and earthly troubles, Alex seeks the assistance of his old ally, Father Thomas (Addy), and a previously exorcised, tormented artist (Sossamon). As he delves deeper into the labyrinth of secrets, he discovers his own existence at the epicenter of this celestial conundrum. Thus begins an exhilarating plunge into the heart of darkness, where faith, fear, and redemption intertwine to create a riveting tale of the sacred and the profane.
