In the bustling, morphing world of Manhattan's literary scene, seasoned author Leonard Schiller finds himself at the crossroads of life and art. Heather Wolfe, an ambitious graduate student and aspiring literary critic, approaches him with a request for interviews. Leonard is hesitant, burdened by his deteriorating health and a desperate race against time to complete one last novel. His worry is further fueled by the concerns for his daughter, Ariel, a woman teetering on the brink of 40, underemployed, solitary, and yearning for motherhood. Yet, drawn by the prospect of rejuvenating public interest in his fading work, he concedes to Heather's proposition. As Heather delves into the labyrinth of Leonard's writings and his richly textured past, Ariel finds an old flame rekindling in her life.
