Bill finds himself trapped in a life of mediocrity, shackled to a dead-end job at his father-in-law's bank, and tethered to a marriage where love is as insubstantial as the candy bars he constantly consumes. His wife Jess, addicted to the comfort of her father's wealth, seems to be drifting further away, and Bill's expanding waistline mirrors his growing dissatisfaction. He yearns for independence, dreaming of owning a donut franchise. A twist of fate lands Bill in a mentoring role at his alma mater, where he's paired with an irreverent, quick-witted kid who materializes at the most inconvenient times. As Jess embarks on an affair with a narcissistic local TV star, a doppelgänger of Rob Lowe, the plot thickens. Bill, the sassy protégé, and an enchanting sales clerk from a lingerie shop are thrown into an adventure to reclaim Jess and secure the coveted donut franchise.
