Plot

"Stars at Noon" is a tale of intrigue, love and survival, woven into the gritty fabric of Nicaragua in 1984, amidst the throes of the Sandinista revolution. Based on Denis Johnson's 1986 novel, the narrative trails an enigmatic American woman, ostensibly a journalist and anti-war observer, who finds herself ensnared in the underbelly of Managua's society. Her nights are spent navigating the shadowy corridors of the Inter-Continental Hotel, her body a commodity she trades in her desperate quest to escape the turmoil-ridden country. In this chaotic landscape, she crosses paths with an enigmatic British oil businessman, a stranger whose allure is as potent as the mysteries shrouding him. Their connection is instantaneous, igniting a love story set against the backdrop of a nation in upheaval. However, their intertwined futures are threatened when the Englishman's ties with Costa Rica sour, propelling them towards a perilous journey to the border. Hot on their heels is a man who is likely an American CIA agent, a relentless hunter who casts a long, ominous shadow over their escape. He pressures our heroine into a dangerous game of betrayal, pushing her to sell out the man she loves, ensnaring them both in a treacherous labyrinth of lies and conspiracies. "Stars at Noon" is a heart-rending exploration of love, loyalty and survival, where every step could lead to freedom or doom in the murky depths of a revolution.
