In the heart of Hungary, nestled within the elegant Gödölle Palace, young Empress Sissi finds solace from the stifling court rules of Austria. Alongside her little daughter and a handful of courtiers, Sissi relishes the freedom that her Hungarian retreat offers, her days filled with invigorating rides in the woods and the charming company of Count Andrassy. Yet, when a ball at Andrassy's castle sparks a declaration of love, Sissi faces a heart-wrenching decision, compelling her to sever ties with the Count and return to Vienna. Her return, however, is marred by an ominous discovery: she has contracted tuberculosis. As the winter sets in, her condition worsens, and her life hangs in the balance, the gloomy prognosis of Dr. Seeburger sending shockwaves through the court.
