Plot

In the heart-wrenching yet humorous film, "Since You've Been Gone" (1998), we follow the hesitant journey of Kevin MacEldowney, a doctor wrestling with the ghosts of his past, as he steps into the whirlpool of nostalgia that is his ten-year high school reunion. Once the target of school bully Pat Prince, Kevin's haunting memories of humiliation are resurrected as he reluctantly returns to his alma mater, accompanied by his supportive wife Mollie and their vibrant gay friend Zane, an aspiring singer/composer. Kevin's reunion is not just a trip down memory lane, but a kaleidoscope of past connections and simmering feuds, each attendee carrying their own complex histories and hidden agendas. Among the motley crew of former classmates is Grace, a lonely soul spiraling down the path of psychopathy, and Duncan, a business dreamer with a string of failures trailing behind him. Clay, an irate publicist, rubs shoulders with Holly, a writer turned therapist, and Electra, a once popular girl now beleaguered by a streak of bad luck. Adding a touch of cosmopolitan flair to the event is Maria, a successful European businesswoman with a mysterious air, while the boisterous host and former class president Rob Levitt ensures the event is anything but mundane. As Kevin navigates this emotional labyrinth, he not only encounters old foes but also confronts the intricate tapestry of life that has unfolded since he's been gone, offering an engaging exploration of the human condition wrapped in the vivid nostalgia of shared pasts.
