Sin City (2005)

This heavily stylized take on film noir makes use of dramatic visual and makeup effects to mimic the shadowy and inky vibe of the comic book. Detective John Hartigan is a hardened detective simply trying to save a missing 12-year old before he retires. Marv is a hideous brute who takes the law into his own hands to get revenge for the death of his love Goldie. Meanwhile, private eye Dwight McCarthy refuses to stand down to the injustice taking place in the Old Town neighborhood. The stories of all three men demonstrate that justice is never pure and living never easy in Sin City.
