Plot

A Jesuit missionary to Japan stops writing to his Jesuit brothers as rumors of his possible apostasy swirl. Two priests, Sebastiao and Francisco, travel to Japan to track down their missing brother. When they arrive, they learn that the feudal, isolationist Japanese government is hostile towards the new faith invading the country's shores. Christians in Japan are being tortured by Grand Inquisitor Inoue, and the priests soon find themselves embroiled in a dangerous controversy as they struggle to keep their faith -- and themselves -- alive.
