Plot

In the early 17th century, the iron reign of the Manchurians casts a long shadow over China, giving birth to the oppressive Ching Dynasty. Amidst brewing nationalistic upheavals within the martial arts fraternity, the new regime ruthlessly enforces a Martial Arts Ban, aiming to suppress any form of resistance. In these troubled times, Wind Fire (Sun Hong-Lei), a defected military officer from the preceding dynasty, sees a golden opportunity to amass wealth by persecuting those who defy the ban. Driven by insatiable greed and devoid of any moral compass, Wind Fire embarks on a reign of terror across North-western China, setting his sights on the last bastion of resistance, Martial Village. Rising against this wave of tyranny is Fu Qingzhu, a reclusive executioner from the former dynasty, who feels compelled to end this brutality. Accompanied by Wu Yuanyin and Han Zhiban from the village, Fu Qingzhu ascends Mount Heaven, seeking the aid of Master Shadow-Glow, a secluded hermit and the master of swordsmanship. The master consents to lend his strength, dispatching four of his finest disciples into the fray. Together with Chu Zhaonan, Yang Yunchong, Mulong, and Xin Longzi, they form the SEVEN SWORDS, embarking on a courageous quest. But their mission is fraught with unexpected peril. As they guide the villagers towards safer lands, they encounter bewildering obstacles. Their sustenance is poisoned, their escape routes marked, leading their foes right to their doorstep. The chilling realization dawns on them - a traitor lurks in their midst. The SEVEN SWORDS must unmask the spy before Wind Fire's soldiers reach them. Amidst this deadly game of survival, unexpected bonds of love add a complex twist to their journey. With life and death hanging in the balance, the swordsmen must make their stand against the encroaching darkness.
