The Karate Kid (1984)

Daniel is a total fish out of water in the small California town that he and his mother move to. He is beat up by a gang of teenagers for not fitting in. Daniel is saved by Mr. Miyagi, an unassuming gardener. It turns out that Mr. Miyagi is a karate master. Daniel enlists Mr. Miyagi's help to learn how to fight back against the bullies. Mr. Miyagi practices a different kind of karate than the bullies do: it is gentler and more focused on control. Will it be enough for Daniel to win the upcoming karate tournament?
