Plot

In the aftermath of the US Civil War, Britt Canfield, a former Confederate soldier, finds new purpose in the construction of the Santa Fe railroad. His adeptness for the job takes him swiftly up the ranks, positioning him as the second in command. As he navigates this new life, he implores his three brothers - Terry, Tom, and Clint, who are struggling to accept the South's defeat - to join him in this noble endeavor. Meanwhile, a captivating connection unfolds as Britt encounters the enchanting Judith Chandler, a woman haunted by the memory of her Union soldier husband's demise. This alliance, however, is soon tested. While Britt finds solace in building a symbol of progress, his brothers, consumed by their lingering resentment towards the North, choose a path of disruption and chaos, resorting to train robberies in their bid to halt the railroad's completion. Torn between familial loyalty and his newfound responsibilities, Britt finds himself in a precarious situation. As he grapples with his brothers' destructive decisions, he is forced into an unforeseen role - to oppose them. The once united brothers now stand divided, their paths diverging in a landscape scarred by war and changed by progress. Santa Fe is a vivid exploration of post-war transition, a tale of familial bonds challenged by changing times, and a testament to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
