Plot

In the frostbitten wilderness of Canada in 1931, a solitary figure emerges from the icy shadows - the gruff and self-reliant fur trapper, Albert Johnson. Carving a life out of the inhospitable landscape near the Yukon river, Johnson is a man of few words but profound action. On a biting December day, he descends into the town for provisions, only to find himself intruding upon a heartless dogfight. Driven by an innate sense of justice, Johnson disrupts the savage spectacle, rescuing a gravely injured dog from the brink of death. His act of mercy, however, is met with hostility as he purchases the battered canine for $200, against the vehement protests of the dog's owner, Hasel, a man known more for his cruelty than his breeding skills. Humiliated and seeking revenge, Hasel accuses Johnson of murder, demanding his arrest. This puts the local Royal Canadian Mounted Police Sergeant, Edgar Millen, a man of stern resolve and hardened by the law, in a difficult position. Despite his sympathy for Johnson, Millen reluctantly forms an armed posse, bringing the might of the law to Johnson's secluded doorstep. Unyielding in his pursuit of freedom, Johnson takes a daring stand, instigating a harrowing game of cat and mouse across the snow-capped mountains. As he attempts to escape to the sanctuary of the Alaskan borders, the posse continues their relentless pursuit, their thirst for vengeance driving them ever closer. Underneath the chilling sky, the question remains - will the cycle of violence ever cease, or will the frozen wilderness be stained with the echoes of gunshots and retribution?
